Drink all you want!

I remember playing ball in the summer.  We would play for hours and hours, playing catch, hitting grounders, chasing fly balls, running the bases.  It didn’t matter where we were, we always had our gloves, a bat, and ball.  Summer meant baseball!  

At some point, we’d take a break.  There was no such thing as sports drinks.  Soft drinks were a luxury, and Kool-Aid was for parties.  We grabbed the garden hose or the “hose pipe” as we called it.  We would turn off the water full force, let the cool water begin to run, and then we would drink.  Oh my, there was nothing better than that cool water.  Long drinks that would quench our thirsty bodies.  And, we wouldn’t just sip it, we would gulp down that cool water.  Sometimes we’d even let the cool water roll over our sun-drenched heads.  That feeling was so fabulous.  There was nothing better!

Very few things refresh us like a cool drink of water.  

You might be feeling thirsty today.  There are days right now that leave us feeling depleted and needing some cool water.  Your soul may have been out in the heat of life, and your mind might be dragging.  

Hear the invitation of Jesus, “Drink in my Spirit and be refreshed.”

Quit trying to do it all yourself.  Quit believing that everyone depends on you.  The Spirit of Jesus is available to you.  This Spirit is like a refreshing drink of cool water.  Come to Jesus and drink and be refreshed.  There is nothing better!
