In 1991, Chuck took a sabbatical at Candler School of Theology, studying under Dr. Fred Craddock. During this time, Chuck sought feedback on his book, Preaching from the Inside Out, particularly the chapter on hearers. Dr. Craddock challenged Chuck's assumption that all listeners were spiritually or emotionally “sick,” encouraging him to recognize that everyone struggles in different ways. Chuck then reflects on the Ascension of Jesus, the role of the Trinity, and the complexities of faith and science. He urges the importance of seeing God’s immense love and the hope that brings, rather than simply looking for answers in religious formulas.
