Don’t Rush Christmas
As Luke begins the Advent story, he shares…“In the time of Herod...”
These few words give hints to the Fear rampant in his world. Luke reveals layers of information about the fearful world Jesus entered.
His world was filled with rampant oppression, economic disparity, uncertainty, and instability. it was a time of survival under two evil empires. Herod, the Roman-appointed ruler of Judea, was evil and cruel. Pilate, the Roman governor, was equally cruel.
Not much has changed in 2000 years! But FEAR is not the focus of the Advent story. Love is!
This Advent, choose love not fear. This Advent, choose hope over despair.
Chuck Bugg challenges us, “Don’t rush to Bethlehem. Listen for the Angels.
Watch for the extraordinary. Refuse to fear.”
This Advent, don’t rush, pay attention, choose love!
